[Pairing Guide] Pairing your Ceiling Fan remote with 4-DIP Switches (all models)
This article is relevant for all ceiling fan remote controls that use simple pairing by matching the dip switches of the remote with the receiver unit. Many remotes have dip-switches in the battery compartment, but may still pair via a learning method. For these, we recommend following the instructions provided with the remote or the user manual provided with the fan.
Please note: The images provided (below) for the remote and receiver may not exactly match your specific model. If you cannot access the receiver, skip down to the section below titled "Pairing without the receiver."
Remote Control Setup Guide
The receiver and the remote feature a 4-switch (dip-switch) panel, which allows you to program to one of 16 codes via switching the switches up or down into different patterns.
Before You Begin: Ensure that your fan is powered on and functioning correctly.
Configuring the Remote:
- Accessing the Battery Compartment: Push firmly below the indicated arrow and slide the battery cover off.
- Setting the Code: Choose your preferred code by sliding the switches up or down (note that the factory default is all switches in the up position). For changing positions, use a small screwdriver or the tip of a ballpoint pen for precise adjustments (refer to Fig. A above).
- Closing the Compartment: Once you've set your code, replace the battery cover on the remote control.
Matching the Code on the Receiver:
- Adjust the code switches on the receiver to match the configuration you selected on your remote (see Fig. B above).
Pairing Without the Receiver
If you're unable or prefer not to set the receiver unit directly, or if accessing the receiver is not feasible, you can still sync your fan to the remote by trying different dip switch codes. Here's how you can find the right code:
- Start with the First Code Setting: Adjust your remote's dip switches to the initial code configuration. See Code Chart Below.
- Test the Functionality: Press any button on your remote to test if the fan responds appropriately. If your fan operates as expected, congratulations, you've successfully paired your remote! If not, don't worry—just proceed to the next step.
- Try the Next Code Pattern: If the first code doesn't work, simply move on to the next dip switch configuration. Repeat the process of testing each code by pressing a button on the remote until you find the correct setting that activates your fan as it should.
This trial-and-error method will eventually lead you to the correct code configuration, ensuring your remote and fan are perfectly in sync. Patience is key here—once you've hit the right code, your remote will be all set to control your fan just the way you want it.
