Can I purchase a new ceiling fan remote with a reverse button to add this feature?
Question: My original ceiling fan remote does not have a reverse button, and my fan uses a manual reverse switch. Can I purchase a new remote with a reverse button to add this feature?
Answer: No. If your ceiling fan was originally designed with a manual reverse switch on the motor housing, the fan does not have the electronic hardware required to reverse the motor using a remote control.
A replacement remote with a reverse button cannot add this functionality. The reverse button only works on ceiling fans that were originally designed with an electronically controlled reversing receiver and are compatible with that feature.
If your fan has a manual reverse switch, you will need to continue using the switch on the fan to change the direction of the blades. Replacing the remote will not convert your fan to electronic reverse operation.
