Ceiling Fan Remote Controls FAQ

Some common questions that users ask about ceiling fan remotes are below. We hope this article helps.

Can I buy a new remote with a Reverse key to reverse my fan if my original remote doesn't have one?

Answer: No. Although you can pair a remote to your fan with a Reverse key, only the keys supported by your ceiling fan's receiver will function properly. If your fan originally had a remote without a Reverse key, then no new remote's reverse key will work, although the other keys may still work. If you no longer have the original remote, check your fan's motor housing or the light housing dome for a reversing toggle switch. If your fan has this switch, it will not work for reversing using a remote control with a reverse key.

My new remote looks like the original but won't pair. What's the issue?

Answer: There could be a few reasons, however the most common one, is that it is not compatible. Even though it looks identical, you may not have confirmed the FCC ID numbers and the frquency that the new remote uses to make sure that it operates on the same frequency as your old remote. They must match. At Anderic you can search for your FCC ID, and our website will recommend the compatible models. We suggest that you confirm prior to placing an order.

  • Example: The Anderic RRTX00I and RRTX001R look identical. However, they are not compatible. The RRTX00I operates on a 304 MHz frequency, and the RRTX001R operates on a 315 MHz frequency. The receiver in the fan only accepts the correct frequency set by the factory and cannot be changed without replacing the receiver unit. You can check the FCC ID numbers to see if they match, indicating the same frequency, or not, indicating different frequencies. Confirm by visiting the FCC website.
